But this is what the book covers. It’s a short, very fast book, and certainly entertaining but it’s apparent that Carpentier wanted something more from his writing here, something prolific and earth-shattering.

Particularly I enjoyed the last chapter when Alejo’s magical realism shows up. The book was in excellent conditions. If you are fascinated by Americas’ official discoverer, then this book is for you.
